Mirror server and ESET client solutions

Suppose all clients are Microsoft Windows /XP workstations and notebooks, networked within a domain.
The server named GHOST is online / and can be a Windows workstation, Professional, or Server edition it does
not have to be an Active Directory Server. In addition, suppose that notebooks are not present in the company’s
network during the installation of ESET client solutions. The network structure may resemble the one displayed
below:

7.1.1 Installation of HTTP Mirror server
The first step is to install the LAN Update Server Mirror on the machine named GHOST. The package containing
the Mirror feature must be installed ESET Smart Security Business Edition or ESET NOD Antivirus Business
Edition. During installation, insert the user name and password obtained from ESET or reseller this is your
authentication data which will allow downloading of virus signature updates.
The next step is to add your license file to the system. Open the Advanced Setup window by pressing F. From the
Advanced Setup tree, click Miscellaneous > Licenses and then click the Add... button. Locate and doubleclick the
nod.lic file. The Mirror functionality is now activated. Verify that the Mirror is appearing in the Advanced update
settings. From the Advanced setup tree, click Update and then click the Setup… button the Mirror tab should be
visible. Click this tab and make the following modifications to configure the Mirror:
• Select the Create update mirror option
• Select the Provide update files via internal HTTP server option
• Select the folder where update files will be located e.g., C:\ESET by clicking the Folder... button.
• In the Available versions section, select components for the operating systems which will receive udpates from
the Mirror. If only Microsoft Windows /XP//Vista workstations will receive updates from the Mirror,
select only these operating systems.
